GE 1.5T operator-selected 'phase correct'

When is this option useful in optimizing signal/image quality? I've seen it selected in SE PD/FS MSK sequences and in abdominal BH sequences....Could you clear up for me exactly what it should be used for?

I just updated my MRI abbreviations page with this:

"Modification of the readout gradient amplitudes in EPI, and additionally the relative phases of refocusing pulses in FSE (but not if single shot). Corrects undesired phase shifts such as those due to eddy currents or mechanical vibration. A prescan is required"

So that's what it is, not specifically what it should be used for, but I hope it helps.

thank you,dave. it's a good start for me! there are times i've had an error statement that directs me to turn off phase correct. when i do this, the prescan runs, otherwise it doesn't. so there must be some parameters that it can work within.....or not.
