K-Space Tool: Periodic Motion Artefacts
There are four periodic motion artefacts on the image which are marked by the blue arrows. Even though there are twice as many movements in this example as opposed to the random motion artefacts example, the effect on the contrast here is smaller. But note the position of the movements in k-space. None of them occurred whilst the few central lines of k-space were being acquired. Since these lines primarily determine contrast in the image, the contrast is mainly unaffected. Ghosts of the detail and edges of the object can be seen in the image.
